What is a favicon? A favicon is a browser icon that represents a brand or website. Most often it is your logo which can be seen next to a web page’s title in browser tabs, address bars, bookmark lists, search engine results pages, browser history, and other places on the internet.
In this article, you will learn how to add a favicon to your WordPress website the easiest way. Lets get started!
Adding a Favicon Icon to WordPress
First of you will need an image that’s at least 512×512 pixels. This can be your logo or symbol representing your website or brand. Once you have this ready you can get started on the WordPress Dashboard under Appearance → Customize
From there, navigate to the Site Identity tab as seen in the screenshot below. Next, look at the bottom for the Site Icon section, and click on the Select site icon or change image button.
You can either choose an existing image in your Media Library or upload a new one. Once you have an image you like, click on it and choose Select in the bottom-right corner.
That’s it! All you need to do is select Save & Publish to make your favicon live. If you ever want to change your favicon in the future, you can come back to this interface.
